BY: MICHAEL GRYBOSKI Nearly four in 10 Republican voters who identify themselves as "born again" or "evangelical" don't believe the Bible is the literal Word of God. Pew Research published an analysis last week on the evangelical vote in the 2016 election season, using data accrued from the 20014 Religious Landscape Study. According to the 2014 data, 39 percent of self-identified evangelical voters in the Republican Party do not believe the Bible is literal Word of God.
TORONTO, October 29, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) -- The City of Toronto is refusing to grant a Christian group a permit to use a prominent downtown square for its annual musical festival next year, because the city has decided that singing the name of Jesus in the public venue contravenes city policy against “proselytizing.”
Voices of the Nations (VON) has been using city property since 2006 for an annual “multi denominational” event in which it celebrates Christianity through live music and dance. It has been using the Yonge-Dundas Square without issue for the past five years. This year’s August 1 event attracted 19 different performance acts, including children’s choirs and popular Christian bands, where well-known ‘praise-and-worship’ songs such as “Days Of Elijah” are performed. Billionaire media mogul Oprah Winfrey has launched a new television miniseries that looks at the faith and spirituality of various religions. The seven-part series, titled “Belief,” is showing on seven consecutive nights on Oprah’s channel OWN, from Oct. 18 through Oct. 24. Though the series has been hailed by critics, earning an enthusiastic write-up in the liberal-leaning The Atlantic, it is not without its detractors. The Rev. Franklin Graham took exception to Oprah’s seemingly pluralistic view of spirituality, that there are “millions of ways” to get to God.

Mad World News Over the weekend, a well-armed Muslim man, decked out in military fatigues and tactical gear, stormed a Texas church and claimed that “Allah” ordered him to “slay the infidels,” and a note found the following day explained a lot about what had happened. On Sunday, Rasheed Abdul Aziz entered the Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Bullard after church services were completed and told a deacon he needed to see the pastor for prayer, reported the Tyler Morning Telegraph. However, Aziz wasn’t looking to pray by any means, and after the 40-year-old was face-to-face with Rev. John D. Johnson III, his intentions became abundantly clear. Source: The New American
Written by Steve Byas: Despite a popular belief that China is no longer a totalitarian communist state, ongoing persecution of Christians in the world’s most populous country contradicts that misconception. According to China Aid, 2014 was the “Year of Persecution and Endurance” in China, with human rights abuses and religious persecution rising 153 percent as compared to 2013. The number of Christians sentenced went from 12 in 2013 to 1,274 in 2014. But because China is a brutal dictatorship, the actual numbers are no doubt much higher.
